Cherry Blossoms for Freshly Made Sketches #638
31 May 2024
Happy Friday.
Well, today I managed to make a card just for the fun of it. After finishing up over 100 cards for a local medical facility, I decided I was in need of a clean and simple card using some of the new goodies that I arrived whilst I was on my world cruise. I found a great sketch across at Freshly Made Sketches and, so, for the first time in nearly 7 months, I managed to make a card for a challenge site! It was the perfect sketch to use the Cherry Blossoms stencil and die set from Pinkfresh Studio. Here's a sneak peek:
You can see from the closeup that there are two key elements to the sketch - a square and an overlapping circle. I decided to keep those white and just use different ways to emboss them to add texture and interest but not detract from those gorgeous blossoms.
Here's the sketch:
This set is really economical as the blossoms are created with two stencils and then die-cut with the matching dies. So, no stamps required. It's such a pretty set and I think it lends itself really well to CAS designs.
I used 5 different colors for the blossms and then die cut them and arranged them. I die-cut the circle and the square and used a cover plate from Pinkfresh for the square and a heart embossing folder from SSS for the circle.
The sentiment is a betterpress sentiment and I thought the crisp, clean text was perfect with the CAS feel.
Here's my full card:
On a personal note:
I've so enjoyed being back in my craft room and making cards. Having spent the last weekend finishing up spring cleaning every nook, cranny, cupboard and drawer I was a little tired of cleaning and wanted to do something creative. So, escaping to my craft area and making a card for a challenge was just the right thing to get me motivated to go back and do some more stamping.
Little Chilli continues to grow in personality and boy does he have that in spades! He might be less than 5# but it's already been established that he is now the kingpin in the house! And, what a handsome kingpin he is!
We think he's going to grow into those ears at some point! :-) And Karen was absolutely right when she thought he was a Maine Coon and she's also right about the fact that he's got a lot of growing to do. When he's fully grown he'll be around 18-20 pounds. So a long way to go from his current weight of not quite 5#!
I'll be back on Sunday with another card... actually, if I do some more challenges, I might be back before then! In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
