Curio Summer Findings for Paper Players #695
23 June 2024
Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's sketch week. Ann's creative sketch immediately reminded me of a set I bought from The Greetery several years ago called Curio Findings. I have three different sets for three different seasons. For today's card I used the summer findings. Here's a sneak peek:
The Curio sets also come with a frame and dividers to help create the look of a curio box. I used both of those to create the frame as they really reminded me of Ann's sketch. You can see the sketch below:
What I forgot when I was creating the card was the sentiment placement! It would have been so easy for me switch that out, but I only noticed it when I added the sketch to my blog!
I die-cut the elements from the Summer Findings and then colored them with loose watercolors. It has honestly taken me years to embrace the loose watercolor look and now that I have been using it, I just love it. Generally I use my Copics, but I really do prefer the look of the watercolor as it adds areas of white that I can never achieve with my Copics. So, I guess, what I am saying, is that you will see this more often :-)
I added the frame and the divider to the card base and then added the individual elements in the divided sections. Here's my card:
I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge this week. We would love to see what you create with Ann's great sketch. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Jeanne asked me if we still have red letter boxes in England because of the card I posted on Friday. The answer is yes... we still have them although most of us don't get the thrill of putting letters and cards into them anywhere near as much as we should! There really is something about getting a handwritten letter in the post! I also found one in the most unlikely of places on my World Cruise. I was doing a tour of Colombo in Sri Lanka (loved the place, by the way!) and I had to take a photo of the post box that was collecting post. It was looking more than a little worse of wear and, because the times of collection were written in Tamil, I couldn't see what times the post would be collected, but just seeing it made me smile.
Here's the photo of the post box at the side of the road in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Now I think you can see where the inspiration for my card on Friday came from!
Little Chilli is growing fast. His coat is starting to come in as is his mane and tail. He's also becoming more independent as he gets more comfortable and there is no doubt about who is going to rule the roost from a cat perspective. We haven't weighed him recently, but I'm guessing he's already close to 7.5# and he's only 18 weeks old!
When he's ready, he really is a snuggler and will eagerly come and sit with you and fall asleep. But, just like a cat, if you want to cuddle and he doesn't, he will chitter at you and look at you with that look that says... you want me to do what! He was sitting on my desktop easel the other day and I asked if he wanted to come for a cuddle. Errrrr... this was the look that I got!
Errr... guess that's a no on the cuddle then! However, a few hours later.....
A cuddly, snuggly blanket and Mom's legs were all that was required for him to settle down and sleep. And on that note I will be back during the week with some of the cards I have made using several card kits. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
