Fluttering Butterflies Washi Tape for Paper Players #707
15 September 2024
Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has chosen a theme very close to my heart! I decided that because it was a clean and simple challenge - and yes, this time I remembered!!! that I would use some left over butterflies that I had die-cut for a Create and Connect class I did with Pinkfresh Studios. It was also the perfect excuse to bring out my stamp quartet die again!
Here's a sneak peek:
And here's Ann's challenge theme:
This card came together really easily, especially as I already had the die-cut pieces :-). I popped up the wings with a little foam tape and secured the central part of the butterfly with glue so that the wings looked as though they had a little movement. I decided not to pop up the die-cut base as that would add extra bulk. A simple sentiment and the card was good to go.
Here's my full card:
Oh... and you will have noticed the rainbow order? :-). I hope you will join us and play along with Ann's challenge. We would love to see what you create.
As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, the house is certainly coming along. The floors are just about finished. Unfortunately he ran out of product and we had to order more so that he could finish the laundry room and a little of the passage way. However, we should be finished with that this coming Thursday or Friday. The carpets have all been replaced and the dull brown/grey carpets are now a warm, creamy color that really brightens up the upstairs. We did run into an issue with black mold behind the dishwasher and kitchen sink though. UGH! That may move our move-in day as we have to get that fixed before we move in. The Servicemaster guys are coming around on Wednesday to take a look and assess the damage and tell us what the remediation plan is. We are hoping its confined to a single area so that we can get it out and fix it in time for us to move on the 26th. We've already pushed the date out twice and I really don't want to do it again.
I thought I would share another day we had on our cruise in August. From the Highlands and the Hebrides we went to Belfast in Ireland. We were supposed to go much further north and had booked a tour to the Giant's Causeway. The re-routing due to weather meant that we would have had a very long drive there - and back, so we chose to do a trip around Belfast instead. For some reason, neither Lou nor I have ANY of the photos we took on our red bus tour, but I do have a few that we took when we went to the Titanic Museum. The Museum was fascinating as it really focused primarily on the building of the ship and the people who built her.
There was also an interactive part that took you on a ride through the "internals" of the ship and past the areas where the workers were. They tried to provide a feeling of the level of noise and heat and various aspects of the jobs. It really was amazingly well done. What struck me though was the long criss-cross cable they used to lower us up and down the various parts of the interactive experience.......
I managed to capture this shot as we were coming into the station at the end of the ride - you can really see what I mean!
There were also interior representations of the various cabins - and as we know from the movie - most people weren't in this level of cabin :-). Now that's a four poster!
And the sumptuous surroundings and furnishings of the rest of the cabin:
As we moved further through the exhibit, we found ourselves getting into an area that was darker and darker and much quieter. It was an interactive area that listed the names of the dead and, on the ground, had a glass floor with a photograph of the Titanic when she was found - it was an incredibly sobering experience knowing that you were looking at what is, technically the grave of thousands of people.
I sat for a while and just contemplated that before turning my eyes the the thing floating in the sky above the photo floor. It was a replica of the Titanic with all the lights that would have been showing at night. What a magnificent sight she must have been.
Well, it's back to packing and doing things at the house. It's been a long tiring day, but the house is looking great. Now, it's off to have dinner and a glass of wine and relax! I'll be back later in the week. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
