Italian Minis and England Minis for Paper Players 706

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Elizabeth's first turn to host a Paper Players challenge this week and she has a fun and primary color palette for us.

I decided to pull out two die sets from Alexandra Renke that I haven't used yet called Italian Minis and England Minis.  Now... really... I should have used red, green and white along with the blue and red!  but hey.... :-). Here's a sneak peek:

Oh - and here's Elizabeth's color palette - in case you hadn't guessed what it is :-)

As with most of our color challenges, neutrals are free, so I chose black and white for my neutrals.  I used the Stamp Quartet die - also from Alexandra Renke - to create my focal element with the feel of 4 stamps.  I used a scripty stamp from The Greetery called Pretty Postmarks to ground the elements and to give that "stamp franked" feel.  To go along with a travel themed card I used a Wish You Were Here sentiment.

Here's my full card:

Such fun sentiments!  I hope you will play along with us and join our challenge this week.  We would love to see what you create with these colors.

As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, as we are on a travel theme, I thought I would share a few more photos from our trip to Ireland and Scotland.  One of our stops was at Ullapool.  It is technically in the Scottish Highlands and is on the far north coast of Scotland.  It's a tiny place - about 1,500 inhabitants but, surprisingly, it's the largest settlement for many miles.  It's also a hop, skip and a jump away from a place I really want to go to... but we didn't get to on this trip.

We took a coach trip out of Ullapool and down the side of Loch Broom to an even smaller place called it's a small fishing hamlet.  It is visited weekly by a mobile bank and a mobile library.  It's right at the tip of Loch Broom and was certainly pretty.  However, it was the gorgeous countryside along the way that cleansed my soul.   Yeah.  Yeah.   I know the rolling hills of Southern England are pretty.... but I'm a Northern Lass and grew up with cold, wet, windy days and wind howling across the Moors.  Think Wuthering Heights and Emily Bronte!  Well, the highlands take it to a whole new level and I am always in awe of those majestic, heather and thistle filled hills and mountains.

What's better than a crumbling castle, rain, a loch and a little mist!

Maybe some ferns and heather:

Or the sheer majesty of the view from the coach:

All those are gorgeous.... but.... you know..... seeing these guys - the largest mammal in the British Isles - takes the cake :-)

What a fabulous sight that was!  And then we went to visit a very important geological site called The Moine Thrust at Knockan Crag on the way back to the ship.  Where we learned that Scotland and England were once on different continents - and were formed into one

It is described as being part of geological formations that are "a key place with geological elements and/or processes of international scientific relevance, used as a reference, and/or with a substantial contribution to the development of geological sciences through history.'  Who would have thought it!

When we got off the coach to get a closer look, one of the passengers decided to stay on the bus because "heck, it's just a pile of rocks!"  Well, technically, yes, that is true.  But how often do you get to visit a "pile of rocks" that are over 420 million years old and helped to bring two different regions together.  The sheer magnitude of force required to do that blows my mind!

So, our visit to Ullapool certainly didn't disappoint on any level!

As for now... it's packing time.   We started this afternoon and are 14 boxes down.  Now, that I have taken a break to write this blog post, it is time to go tackle my craft area!!!!  That means that I won't have access to my crafting supplies now until a few days after we have moved.  No stamping, no crafting for 3 full weeks!   It's getting exciting at the house though.  The floors were taken up earlier this week and have been donated.  I mean, they were decent and in good shape, and I really didn't want them filling up the landfill.  So they have gone off to a new home to someone who will appreciate the dark color.   Then, the new floors were started and should be finished by Tuesday.  The entire main level will now be laminate flooring that has much broader boards, a much softer feel under foot and a much lighter color.  Next Thursday the old carpet on the second floor and stairs comes out and the new, much lighter carpet goes down.  So the whole place is starting to look much brighter and lighter.  The old appliances have been taken out and all of them (except for the aging washer and dryer) have been donated and the new appliances will be installed the day before we move.

Anyway, I'll be back later in the week with my Addicted to CAS and Festive Friday cards.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
