Bunny Ears for Paper Players #734
20 April 2025
Happy Sunday and Happy Easter to all those who celebrate.
It's the fabulous Elizabeth's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's clean and simple week. Well, my card is sorta clean and simple in that it has lots of white space, but with a twist!
I only had one set that would be appropriate for this challenge, so I had to use it :-). I decided to make a shaker card and make it something other than an Easter card. I don't often do shakers, but I had some wonderfully feminine shaker bits that I wanted to use.
So, out came the Waffle Flower Bunny ears and some of those shaker bits! Here's a sneak peek:
I die-cut the bunny ears with fog card stock and colored the inside of the ears using Copic markers. I die-cut an oval and backed it with acetate and then adhered the bunny ears to the front of the acetate and tucked them into the die-cut oval. The front panel was die-cut with a background die from Pinkfresh Studio called Stitched Diamonds. I added the shaker bits to the oval and all I had to do was add the sentiment, a little bow to the bunny ears and a couple of flowers!
Here's my somewhat clean and simple card:
The shaker bits are really pretty shades of pinks and have little hearts and sparkly bits! As much as I love shaker cards, I dislike making them as they are so fiddly!
As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, as I write this blog post, Lou is in the garage putting together the new dining table and chairs. Even though it is only in the 50s it feels glorious and the sun is shining. I have to check the weather in the hope that we can put the chairs and table out and have them not be drenched in rain. The cover doesn't come until tomorrow and as the deck is exposed, the chairs and cushions do need to be protected against the elements.
As spring starts to make her way closer to us in this part of the world, my mind has gone to our front garden. It has a couple of well controlled shrubs and lots of stone. I so miss the native plantings that we had at our house in the Twin Cities, and have found a nursery about an hour away that sells the native plants. So, we will be planting some Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Little Bluestem and Prairie Dropseed grasses as well as some aster and peonies. Even though the peonies are not native, they do provide fabulous nesting places for the smaller birds and the other plants provide housing, food and seeds for the birds and other insects. It will be good to get some native color into the garden. It's south facing and gets lots of good sun and is pretty protected. So they should thrive. We can't do that until the end of May though as the nursery won't be open until then.
We also met with a building contractor to discuss the updates we want to do to our house. In the laundry I want to take down a short (24' wide) wall and then move the washer, dryer and sink up about 3 feet so that we could get an l-shape into the laundry. He told us that it would cost over 20K just to do that and that didn't include the countertops. HUH! Say what now?!!!! So, we moved on to the next project which was to remove the pony walls on the staircase and upper landing and put in a wire railing system. I can't wait to see what that quote comes out to be! He's also quoting to update the vanity in the master bathroom and retile the shower. Based on the 20K just to take down a short wall and move things three feet in the laundry.... I'm thinking that this quote will be a little out of our league :-). But, I can always hope :-)
I'm hoping to get into my craft room to do some crafting this week as I have some new goodies to play with. However, depending on the weather, the deck chairs and table might just be calling my name:-). Whatever you do this weekend, I hope you have a fabulous one. I'll be back later in the week. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
