On Your Birthday - Cottage Garden Greetings

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday night and welcome to Jaydee's SU stampin space - where Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration has officially begun!  I do have a card for you tonight - using a sketch challenge from JUSTUSGIRLS, using the SU On Your Birthday stamp set, using the Live, Laugh & Love sentiment, and the Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die but I want to provide you with some background on Sale-A-Bration for this year before we get to the card.  I also have some updates on the new products available - the Simply Adorned line.

Now, on to tonight's card.  I found a new challenge site.... a part of my New Year's resolutions.... do different things!  Justusgirls have a challenge blogspot and I made two cards using their layout #14 this week.  I decided that I really don't feature the fabulous designer series paper's enough - so tonight I chose to do that.  I also decided it was about time I took out one of my dies - Flower Daisies # 2.  I love it, but realized I honestly haven't done enough with it.  I love the Cottage Wall DSP and, continuing with my resolutions...... out of the box it came!   I thought the colors of Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive were the perfect antidote to all the Christmas colors you have seen on my blog so often over the last few months :-)

Jugs

Note to you all...... I got new blades for my cutter today... yay!  no more furry edges... however, it was too late for this card!  Also, My lights haven't arrived yet, so I'm still taking pics on my desk....  Consequently, the colors don't look as rich as you know they are in real life.

Card recipe:
  • Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White card stock.  You can easily change out the Eggplant for Razzleberry!
  • Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry markers which I used to ink up the central sentiment...... just for you, Kelli!
  • Flower Daisies # 2 die - I ran the die through my big shot with 3 pieces of paper for the bigger daisy layer and 1 for the small (inner daisy).  One shot through my Big Shot cut all the shapes for me in one go.  Got to love that!
  • Button from the Playground set - which I adhered with two glue dots.
  • Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper
  • On Your Birthday stamp set

This was such an easy card to make - very little stamping and straight edge cutting.  For the sketch.... all I did was flip it to have the embellishment on the left instead of on the right! Jaydee tip:  to give added dimensionality to the daisy, I actually lifted one of the layers using dimensionals.  I glued the first two flower layers, then cut up a dimensional and laid it on top of the two flowers I had glued - then added my next two layers - the last of the big daisy and the small daisy.  I also lifted the flower edges just a little with my fingers.

It's a card that looks really great in hand, and has lots of texture to play with.

I got the chance to play with some new techniques today..... part of my resolutions... now, if only my resolutions on eating better were coming along quite so well!

So, what did I play around with today?  Aperture cards and pop-up cards and a mixture of both!  I also did some 3D projects using the Big Shot dies and some etching cream, which I will share with you probably next week.  I was determined the enjoy my last day of vacation before starting work tomorrow, except for one little thing!!!!  I have a temp crown which split over the weekend and I am due to have the tooth under the crown removed next week.  Needless to say, the tooth and the split crown have caused me to have a headache for the last two days.  My dentist put a new temp on this afternoon... but the headache remains..... going to the dentist, as great as she is, isn't exactly high on my list of things I want to do!!!

As always, a great big thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits are always very much appreciated.  I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday - and I hope it's warmer where you are than where I am!  I hope you get to spend time doing the things you love, with those you love the most... and if you have to spend time with those you don't like too much, I hope you have patience...and the time goes by quickly for you :-)

Peace

Jaydee

Don't forget - any questions??? just send me an email :-)

Oooh look, you're being featured. You deserve it! Love this card and of course I love how you inked it up with markers. I just need to decide which markers to start with. If I had a ton of $ there are SO many things I could buy but I need to do this step by step! I hope your tooth is better...poor thing. Happy Wednesday!
